For applicants who are not UK citizens, please be aware that you can volunteer with us only if your UK immigration status allows it. Many individuals will meet the requirements, but it's essential to confirm your eligibility to avoid any violation of your immigration status terms. You can find more details about different visa regulations on the UK government's official webpage. Additionally, we provide confidential immigration advice separately from your application process.
Irish citizens, EU/EEA citizens with settled or pre-settled status, and refugees and asylum seekers have full entitlement to volunteer with us.
Regrettably, Citizens Advice Edinburgh cannot sponsor individuals under the Tier 5 Charity Worker visa.
Why volunteer with us?
Each year our volunteers support around 13,000 local citizens in need of advice and support.
Volunteers are the lifeblood of our charity. Over 80% of Citizens Advice Edinburgh workers are trained volunteers. They come from different age groups, backgrounds, and communities. As members of the community themselves, our volunteers understand local needs and promote fair and accessible services.
We believe in giving equal opportunities and encourage volunteers from all walks of life. We especially welcome applications from those receiving welfare benefits and people from minority backgrounds. These groups often need more advice than others. We want more volunteers from these communities to join us and help fellow citizens in need of unbiased advice.
Many people with CAB training and experience have found new jobs or switched careers.
What can we offer you?

A chance to help your local community and meet new people
An opportunity to learn new skills and develop existing ones
